Volunteer Lineman (NRECA International, August 6, 2007)
Location of Assignment: Yei, Southern Sudan
Duration of assignment: 3 weeks (between September 2007 and March 2008)
The NRECA International Foundation is looking for experienced lineman to travel to Sudan to help with the construction of a distribution grid in Yei, Sudan. The linemen will also continue to help training the local crew.
This is a hardship post based on location and physical exertion required – there are no utility vehicles so the linemen need to be physically fit and able to set and climb eucalyptus poles. There are also no power tools available – all work will need to be done by hand. The volunteer will normally be required to bring their own hand tools and equipment.
As a volunteer, NRECA International Foundation will pay for your travel, lodging and meals, and will make all your travel arrangements. The volunteer must have a valid US passport with over six (6) months validity.
For questions or comments, or if you would like to apply for the opportunity, please email Ingrid Hunsicker, Manager of the International Foundation.
